On the 8th of may, we presented our pitches for our short film. By this time we had already researched our ideas and had our budgets, equipment, location and a rough idea of our project schedule ready.
On the 10th of May, I started writing the first draft of the script. I wrote down the outline of the story on a google doc, and tried to showcase the characters personality. I also, watched a few mockumentaries and documentaries to see what the dialogue and shots should be like.
I began my storyboard and finished the screenplay and started to email a few actors to see if they would be interested in acting in my short film. I filled out my crew list and saved both files in one folder.
I began making changes to the first draft, changing dialogues that sound unrealistic, or adding more detail about what the actor should be doing. I completed the Risk Assessment and the storyboard. I had problems with the risk assessment because I didn't really know how to fill it out. After some research I was able to correctly write it in.
I completed my shooting schedule and shot list today. I decided to upload it all to my website so that I can keep track of all that I need to complete.
I completed the costumes today. For the costumes, I wanted what the characters to wear something that reflected that their personalities. Ethan's personality is a do-gooder, he's modest and sensitive, so his uniform is neat and clean. Julia is bit of a tough-nut, her costume is more messy. You can easily see the contrast in their characters.
On the 20th of May, I made important changes to my script. I changed my characters genders because I was not able to find male actors for both characters in time. So the character's went from Sam, Ethan and Julia to Sam, Maya and Julia. I also finished the final draft of the script and began sending it out to my actors.
Today I emailed a bunch of actors, and am waiting for a response. I sent the drafts of the scripts to all the actors informing them of the estimated shooting timetable. I had to rearrange the shooting dates because I couldn't find my actors in time.
On the 23rd of May, I got a few responses from actors, and finalized my actors. I completed my Cast List and uploaded to the website. We then discussed the dates we're going to shoot the film. I had to change my original shooting dates because of different available timings. So I had to change my production schedule too so that I could manage my other tasks accoridingly.
