Some secondary audience research on two documentaries.

Analysis of Bowling For Columbine.

How I can use this research in major MINORITIES?

In Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore uses a lot of voice-overs and he is always in front of the camera, and half of the time influencing a lot of what happens. I can add voice overs to my documentary as well, so that the people understand what is going on and I can influence what they are thinking. Whenever Moore introduces a new interviewee, he gives the viewers a brief history of their lives. He mostly just includes details that are relevant to the subject of the documentary. I like this technique because rather than just showing their name, and a short description of their relevance to the documentary. Also, he uses recreations while an interviewee tells their story. I think I can use this technique in my documentary.

How I can use this research in Away?

In Allure's video, they asked the subject to take a "vlog" of her entire day routine. As they interview her, they cut in videos of her vlog. This makes the film more interesting and easier to watch. For example, if she talks about how she what time she wakes up, they cut in a video of when just woke up. I think this is a smart way keep the audience's interest and make them more invested in her life. It also makes the audience understand the subject's life better, making them appreciate the work they do more. Also, In "They Shall Not Grow Old", their use of archive footage makes the film much more

impactful. When my subject talks about her life in India, I'll be sure to use pictures, wedding videos and audios if they are available.

How I can use this research in Wolves of Small Street?

In Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore uses the Participatory mode. This means that he was actively involved in what happened in the film. In fact, he caused a lot of the actions taken in the film. Though my film will be a mockumentary,  I think I could use this method in my film. The host could actively participate in the story. They could influence a lot of the actions of the main characters. This will make the story more comedic. The host could have a unique personality, adding to the humour in the film. Also, we could add some fake archive footage, to show the subject's first transformation, pictures from when they were baby werewolves etc. It could make the story look more believable, thus, making it look more like a documentary.
